I've been working on the CTA project for over a year at IP Commerce. This release of the CTA is, in my opinion, the best by far.
I remember my first release, 1.17.0. Back then it was all so difficult - I was a junior dev, but had incredible mentors. I had virtually no knowledge of the payments industry and security compliance, so I found myself learning that alongside the CTA. The 1.17.0 release was a milestone in the development of the CTA project, and gave us a solid platform to improve upon.
Over the last year, while the Framework API hasn't changed that much, we have implemented a simplified API in the CTAExpressLane project, delivered with the tutorial app. This project does even more of the heavy lifting for you. The code samples for the payment modules show how to use the simp ...

In my last blog post, I mentioned the focus of IP Commerce on simple payment integration for the software companies and partners who participate in the IP Commerce network. One of the things we learned very early as a company was that, when addressing something as complex as payments, partnership is necessary. To that end, you may have noticed that IP Commerce is a member of the Information Card Foundation.
The Information Card Foundation is an eclectic collection of companies and individuals looking at better methods of addressing the security of user data. Considering the guidelines regarding the mandating PCI-DSS and PA-DSS certifications indicate an industry wide focus on protecting your customer's data. To that end, IP Commerce is particip ...

Hi! I’m Chip Kahn and I am the CEO of IP Commerce. We founded IP Commerce a few years ago with the goal of helping software developers who require simple payment integration. We decided to do this after experiencing the pain firsthand ourselves, when in a “former life” we had to do some payment integrations. The complexity, cost and PCI burden was shocking. We found that, in order to provide our customers with the flexibility of accepting multiple payment tenders securely, the pain increased exponentially.

There’s been a lot of news in payments industry compliance over the past few weeks. I thought I’d do a quick summary post.
First, the PCI SSC announced the availability of the PCI Payment Applications Data Security Standard (PA-DSS). The council has also released a comprehensive FAQ regarding the new standard. You should talk with your QPASC or PA QSA (these are security firms who are certified to per ...

If you are planning to develop a payment application that handles payment card transactions, it’s never too early to start thinking about Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) compliance. If you read my last post you know that any new payment application released after July 1, 2008 is required to be validated as PABP compliant before it can be certified to process Visa transactions.
PABP is a big specification with many technical requirements. To assist software companies like yours in meeting some of the most demanding of them, IP Commerce offers the Commerce Toolkit for Applications (Toolkit). The Toolkit offers much more than just an easier path to meeting PABP requi ...
